April 10, 1847 – #ThisDayInHistory: Publisher Joseph Pulitzer was born in Budapest, Hungary. He came to America in 1864 and fought briefly in the Civil War for the Union. He then began a remarkable career in journalism and publishing. His newspapers included the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the New York World.
