Senior OTEC Scientist and Engineering Consultant – Dr. C.B. Panchal is one of the world’s leading experts on OTEC heat exchangers and OTEC power cycles. He spent 24 years at the Argonne National Laboratory leading OTEC developments for the US Department of Energy and also participated in most of the OTEC hardware and system developments over the past 30 years, including OTEC 1, heat exchanger hardware tests, and OTEC subsystem tests at the NELHA OTEC test facility in Hawaii. This pioneering work in OTEC also included investigations into the heat/mass transfer characteristics of the OTEC process and the development of advanced heat/mass transfer equipment as well as the analysis of energy carrier products such as ammonia or hydrogen from OTEC as well as desalinated water production. He is a fellow of the AIChE and is a consultant to the United Nations Development Program and has authored many professional journal articles on OTEC. He currently serves as President of E3 Tec Services Corp.
