A LEGACY OF EXPERTISE

In 2010, we acquired a majority ownership in OCEES International—an ocean energy development company staffed by PhD engineers with decades of hands-on and academic experience in Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion. We then formed Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation (OTE Corp) as the holding company. Since then, we’ve built a world-class team of experts, including experienced investors and business people with a successful track record of bringing academic research to commercialization, scientists, former U.S. administration officials, consultants with U.S. government and Department of Defense (DOD)  experience. We are supported by well-known and successful technical partners with vast, proven asset management and operations skills, including project development and facility ownership, engineering, procurement and construction, renewables and energy efficiency, microgrids, combined heat, chilling, and power engineering. These relationships underscore our ability to deliver on large-scale energy projects.

RIPE FOR COMMERCIALIZATION

OTEC harnesses the natural temperature difference between warm surface seawater and cold deep-ocean water (at around 1000 meters) to produce clean baseload electricity. Technological advances, perfected initially by the offshore oil industry, have made the key components (pumps, pipes, heat exchangers) more affordable and efficient. The result? OTEC is no longer a distant promise. It is a viable, cost-effective solution for rapid deployment in warm-water regions worldwide.

MARKET OPPORTUNITY AND GLOBAL DEMAND

Projected to increase by nearly 46% under high carbon emission scenarios, OTEC power potential is on the rise. OTEC's global market is measured in the billions, from powering remote U.S. military installations to serving island nations craving energy independence. We’ve already done a USDA-funded feasibility study in Guam, the U.S. DOD-funded feasibility studies, and detailed discussions for OTEC systems at remote military bases in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, laying the groundwork for OTEC projects in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. International inquiries and discussions are robust, reflecting a commercial and governmental interest surge.

Beyond electricity, OTEC’s low-temperature operation can produce desalinated water that is critical for drinking supplies, fish farming, and agriculture. We’re also exploring green hydrogen production—an attractive avenue for clean-energy expansion.
