July 14th marks “Bastille Day,” which is the name given in English-speaking countries to the annually-celebrated French National Day. In France, it is formally called “La Fête National” or “Le Quatorze Juillet” and commemorates the beginning of the French Revolution with the Storming of the Bastille on July 14th, 1789.
