Puerto Rican patriot Luis Munoz-Rivera was born July 17th, 1859 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. He was a poet, journalist, and politician who worked tirelessly to attain self-government for his homeland. In 1887, Muñoz Rivera became part of the leadership of a newly formed Autonomist Party.
