On December 11th, 1946, the General Assembly of the United Nations voted to establish the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), which would provide relief and support to children living in countries devastated by the war. Inspired by the devastating aftermath of World War II, UNICEF has continued its role as a relief organization.
